40+ years ago, Patrick and Donna Elliot openedElliots for Pets in Riverside, California. Shortly after opening, Mark Gray joined the team, and when Donna and Patrick decided to retire, Mark took over the store.

Mark had a passion for animals since childhood, and had his own reptile breeding operation as a kid. He still has an especially soft spot for invertebrates like emperor scorpions, but his main joy comes from his 3 Savannah cats.

Elliots for Pets specializes in freshwater and saltwater fish, reptiles, amphibians, invertebrates, and small mammals (guinea pigs, rats, mice, and hamsters). They often get unusual species of reptiles and amphibians, and they carry a variety of South American and African cichlids.

While they carry several types of pet invertebrates like jumping spiders, they also have a variety of feeders like crickets, hornworms, mealworms, dubia roaches, nightcrawlers, red worms, waxworms, and rodents.

Elliots for Pets has also had its share of challenges, and about 15 years ago had to move the store location due to a railroad underpass being built through the city. Despite having to pick up their 25 year old settled store, they’ve continued to offer competitive pricing and good customer service. They also offer school tours to local students.
