Our store of the month for February is Anaconda Reptiles in Belgium! This store has been open since 1998 and is one of the few European stores that specializes exclusively in reptiles.

Owners Danny and Barbara Win were originally inspired to open Anaconda Reptiles after working for a friend at an aquarium store. It was clear after one year that this was the profession for them, and they opened their own store dedicated just to reptiles.

Unlike American stores, this store operates with a staff of 5 rotating college students who are studying animals in school. They stay for a year each to work at the store before returning to school. In addition to working with local universities, Anaconda Reptiles works with the Antwerpen ZOO.

In the store, they keep a variety of reptiles, amphibians, and insects, including several rare species. Barbara especially loves blue tongue skinks, Uromastyx, and Greek tortoises, while Danny has a fondness for snakes. They also breed their own Greek tortoises in-store. Danny and Barbara are seeing increased popularity in bioactive habitats, and also popularity with anole species.
