In 2014, the popular Bowling Green, KY store, Fishy Business, permanently closed. Former employee Austin Day was worried about leaving loyal customers without options and decided to pursue his childhood dream of opening his own pet store. He launched Pet Central as the first and only employee, but since then, growth has been exponential, and now they’re in a bigger location and offer shipping across the US.

Their ability to offer high-quality reptiles, amphibians, invertebrates, and fresh and saltwater supplies has been a game changer in the area, and they even offer aquarium custom builds and professional cleaning and maintenance.

Pet Central has exceptional customer service and wants to make sure they equip you with the knowledge and tools to care for your pets. Their perpetual employee of the month is the assistant manager Pesky: a 30-year-old blue and gold macaw that has worked at the store for 5 years. Pesky is best at helping dreams take flight, sharing his pinions with everyone, and being a beak-on of optimism at least half the time.

Another long-term employee is Keith, the green iguana. Many people will go into the store specifically asking for him, and new customers quickly fall in love with him. Pet Central works with local breeders whenever they can and doesn’t treat animals as just another thing to stock. They value every animal that comes to their store and ensures through their customer support that each one is launched successfully at their new homes.
