Owned by animal-enthusiasts, Dawn Williams and Yan Fiset, Monarch Reptiles is a specialized pet store located in Chateauguay in the Canadian province of Québec. With their combined 25 years of experience in the industry, it is no surprise that they provide the stellar service that they have become known for. Their team is remarkably dedicated to the health and well-being of, not only the animals in their care, but of their clients’ pets as well.

A true rarity in this province, this store is specialized in reptiles and amphibians. Taking a walk down their aisles, you will not only find the staple herps (lizards, turtles and tortoises, snakes, newts, frogs and toads) but also a good variety of harder-to-find and uncommon species. They provide a vast selection of terrestrial invertebrates and have recently introduced an aquatic section, with a nice assortment of fish, shrimps and aquatic plants. To ensure their clients have easy access to everything their exotic pets need, Monarch Reptiles also stocks high-quality tanks, equipment and accessories. All of one’s Zoo Med needs can be satisfied in a single visit.

Backtracking a few years to the enterprise’s origins, Dawn, with previous experience in the veterinary world, had long felt the growing need for a reptile go-to resource in the region to both educate the public and offer them the opportunity to partake in this wonderful hobby and feed their passion. With this dream, Monarch Reptiles was founded. Yan discovered his own love of reptiles, specifically snakes, at a young age and considers it his dream to co-own this unique store and be able to reach so many people. This feeling of gratitude is shared by Dawn: “We believe that giving the best customer service, and sharing what we love to do, gives both us, as owners, and the clientele the motivation to do what we love to do. We are truly blessed to continue to be able to work in this industry on a daily basis.”

Going forward, Dawn and Yan are investing more time and energy on building bioactive terrariums and on aquascaping, since both are increasingly popular. Additionally, they intend to expand their aquatic department. There are always new things to learn when working in this field and Monarch Reptiles’s mission is to continue educating their clients and to keep contributing to the growth of this special hobby.
