With between 400 and 500 tanks, in a 5000 square foot building, The Wet Spot in Portland Oregon is one of the most unique aquarium stores in the Northwest. For 20+ years the passion one man had and the hard work of everyone involved, is what kept the dream alive. They’re a long standing leader in the local aquarium scene, and the largest all-freshwater store in the country. They run blogs, and offer maintenance, relocation and moving help, tank design, and online ordering. Customers travel from all over to see the quality they offer, and if you don’t want to travel, they can always ship anywhere in the US!

From the 500-gallon Lake Malawi micro-environment to the Borneo tank, they have so many show-stopping displays. All their fish are pristinely healthy, because they have several practices in place for quality control. They have a separate holding facility where the imported fish are kept until they have recovered from the strain of their journey and are healthy. Another thing they do differently is that all the tanks are individually filtered, not run off of one central filtration system, which allows control of the health of each separate tank. 

The Wet Spot also invests in promoting the aquarium hobby, assisting the novice and veteran customers, and supporting the growth of the regional community.
